BAPT (The British Association for Psychological Type) promotes knowledge and good practice in the application of type – not just for qualified users of the MBTI® instrument but for everyone interested in Jungian psychological type theory. The annual conference provides a national focus for this meeting of minds.
This year’s British Association for Psychological Type (BAPT) Annual Conference takes place at Kents Hill Park, Milton Keynes on 11-13 April 2019. The conference theme is Pearls of Wisdom.
Ei4Change’s Robin Hills is delighted to be delivering a workshop “The Pearls of Wisdom in Metaphor” based on the coaching toolbox designed to support the development of resilience in individuals and in teams.
A metaphor is a figure of speech the describes a subject by comparing it to and describing it in terms of another, otherwise, unrelated topic. This includes similes, parables, analogies, parallels, literary metaphors, etc.
- Metaphors can represent experience more fully than abstract concepts and so enable more effective communication
- Metaphors condense information, making things more tangible and easier to work with
- The metaphor for an experience has a similar structure to the experience that it represents
This interactive session will explore metaphors viewed from an individual or team perspective. The session looks at how metaphors represented by images, and underpinned with coaching techniques, enable people to describe their experience in their own way leading to pearls of wisdom, cathartic insights and long-term learning.
Ne speaks in analogies, Ni speaks in metaphor.
Se speaks from experience, Si speaks from memory
Te speaks in practice, Ti speaks in theory
Fe speaks with diplomacy, Fi speaks from the heart
