Emotional Intelligence is what distinguishes superior performance from average performance both in individuals and in teams.
It is made up of two parts:
Intrapersonal Intelligence is what is needed for effective self-management – something everyone requires, both in life as a whole and at work. It is about being intelligent in understanding what is going on inside you and doing what you need to do to make quality decisions.
Interpersonal Intelligence is what is needed for effective relationship management which, since human beings are social animals is required both in life as a whole and at work. It is about being intelligent in understanding what is going on in other people and between people, and doing what you need build authentic relationships.
